O'Brien Story The O'Brien family is a bright spot in the lives of children in the State of Wisconsin. Their mission is to provide a forever family for as many children as possible. When Dan and Lori O'Brien decided to become part of the Wisconsin Foster Care Program they saw a big need in the hearts of area kids whose lives were being destroyed by addictions, abuse, and divorce. This couple could not bear to watch as little brothers and sisters were being torn apart by the "system." They began the process of adopting precious sibling groups; first one, then the next, until they added 11 children to their family of five. In November the O'Brien's garage burned down. The garage not only provided storage space for the family but it also gave Dan, a mechanic, the ability to work on his vehicles and on vehicles of those in need. Because of this need, several individuals began to explore exactly what could be done to help this family who had already committed to help so many others. At about the same time, Dan and Lori were approached by the state about adopting two more sibling groups. They are currently unable to do so because of lack of space in their home. http://www.packers.com/news/stories/2008/08/02/1/?i=2008/08/02/1/ Hello, My son is in the same grade at school as one of the O'Brien children and through that child the Love of God has been evidenced to us. He came to school the first year when he was first adopted, and, admittedly, he was pretty rough around the edges. We were invited to his birthday parties and the O'Briens were invited to our son's birthday parties. Over time, at these and other social events and through my volunteer time at the school I noticed an amazing transformation in this beautiful boy. He is now self-confident, giving, compassionate, patient and smiling most all of the time. As a silent observer, I have witnessed Dan and Lori showing God's love to these children throughout the years. They do not preach, but let their actions speak. The Word is shown to all through the miracles happening right here in Brookfield Wisconsin in the O'Brien family. They have truely inspired me and my family in our walk with the Lord. C.S. C.S. I would like to volunteer in a clerical capacity for the Heaven House Project.
